At Concrete Studio, every piece is made with intention and designed to age gracefully with the right care. This guide outlines simple yet essential steps to preserve the beauty and integrity of your concrete, ensuring it remains a lasting part of your space.
Unpacking & Handling
Take care when removing your concrete piece from its packaging. Use caution if cutting the box or tape with a knife to avoid damaging the surface. Lift the piece gently and avoid dragging it across hard surfaces, as this may cause scratches or chips. Concrete should be treated like fine furniture: do not stand on it, place undue weight on unsupported areas, or use it as a work surface.
Storing Your Concrete
If your piece will not be installed immediately, proper storage is important to protect it:
- Leave the item in its original packaging until ready for installation.
- Store it in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated indoor space away from direct sunlight, dampness, or extreme temperature changes.
- Always keep the piece flat and supported, do not lean it upright or balance it on edges.
- Avoid stacking heavy items on top, as this may cause stress or damage.
Caring for Your Concrete
Each piece is individually handcrafted, robust yet refined, and deserving of thoughtful care.
- Avoid scratching the surface; never use abrasive materials or harsh tools.
- Our products are intended for everyday use, not heavy-duty tasks or industrial cleaning.
- Do not expose surfaces to harsh chemicals, dyes, or staining agents.
- Protect against sudden, extreme changes in temperature (thermal shock), which may cause damage.
Cleaning Your Concrete
With regular, gentle maintenance, your concrete will remain both beautiful and enduring.
- Clean using a mild, pH-neutral household cleaner with a non-abrasive sponge.
- Avoid natural acidic cleaners such as vinegar or lemon, which can etch or dull the surface. Natural does not always mean safe, many products marketed as “eco” or “gentle,” including those with very high or low pH, can still damage the sealer.
- Small dark spots may appear when the surface is wet or freshly wiped. These are temporary and will dry.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may damage the protective seal.
- Always rinse thoroughly after cleaning and avoid leaving cleaning products to sit on the surface.
