The renovations of Vasse Felix, Margaret River’s founding winery brought together Melbourne-based architects Iredale Pedersen Hook and interior designers Hecker Guthrie to create a landmark hospitality destination that balances the raw and refined. Within this reimagined setting, Concrete Studio was commissioned to craft bespoke concrete elements that reinforce the architectural language of permanence and tactility.
Central to the work are two large trough sinks designed for the winery’s new bathrooms. Each piece was engineered in high-performance GFRC to achieve both scale and delicacy. The internal planes slope towards a discreet central slot drain, while the concealed steel support structure creates the illusion that the massive concrete forms float effortlessly within their alcoves.
Alongside the sinks, we also produced a series of custom display plinths, extending the material narrative into the wine museum space call "The Vault". These quiet, robust elements were conceived to sit comfortably alongside the winery’s palette of local stone, recycled Marri timber, and black steel, anchoring the interiors with subtle strength.
