Located at North Fremantle’s Leighton Beach, The Shipping Lane was conceived as a restaurant, café, and providore in one, a space where sandy-footed locals could drop in for everyday essentials, or guests could linger over fine dining while watching the freighters line up on the horizon.
Stiely Design led the interior fit-out, transforming a raw concrete shell into a venue that balances industrial grit with coastal ease. Concrete Studio was invited to fabricate a series of bespoke concrete elements that anchor the design, reinforcing the shipping-container aesthetic while complementing the panoramic ocean views.
We crafted a robust concrete café counter, a feature sushi bar, and a suite of high bar tables. These pieces provide both durability and presence, hard-wearing surfaces that can endure the rigours of daily service, yet refined enough to suit an upscale hospitality environment.
