Concrete Studio was commissioned to fabricate the feature sushi bar and counters for The Modern Eatery in Mount Lawley, Perth. Known as the “House of Aburi Sushi,” the restaurant combines a sleek, pared-back interior with a focus on Japanese-inspired dining.
The five-metre long concrete sushi bar anchors the space with a clean, monolithic presence that complements the restrained design language of timber, steel, and neutral tones. Precast in Fremantle, the counters were detailed for precision and durability, ensuring they would endure the rigours of hospitality service while retaining a refined finish.
By integrating robust functionality with minimalist aesthetics, the concrete elements provide the perfect backdrop for the theatre of Aburi sushi — where dishes are seared to order at the bar in front of diners.
